About Best Watch Winders Guide

Hi. I write as Brian Davis, which is a pen name, and I run Best Watch Winders Guide. The person, the collection and the reviews behind the name are real. I’ve been writing about watch winders here since 2015.

I own a small collection of automatic watches, and like most people with more than one, I got tired of resetting the time and date every time I picked up a watch that had stopped. Working out which winders are worth the money, and which aren’t, is how this site started.

How I review watch winders

I don’t run a test lab, and most of the winders reviewed here haven’t been through my hands. Each review is built from three sources:

  • The manufacturer’s own specifications, checked against their website where they have one, not just the retailer listing.
  • Retailer listings for price, availability and the details buyers see before they order.
  • What verified owners report, including the complaints. When owners keep raising the same problem, like a weak lock or a motor that stops, the review says so.

Where a spec is missing or the sources disagree, I point that out instead of guessing. Prices and availability change, so reviews date the figures they quote. Some of the oldest reviews predate this approach, and I’m bringing them up to it as I update them.

How this site is funded

Best Watch Winders Guide is reader-supported. If you buy through a link on this site, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions don’t decide which winder gets recommended, and some reviews point you to a cheaper option or away from the product entirely. The full details are in the affiliate disclosure.
